Our Curriculum

curriculum
  • Toddler

Our loving and language rich toddler community will meet the needs of growing toddlers (1.5 and 2 years old). At GD Goenka, La Petite, your toddler will be given opportunities to develop basic motor coordination, independence, and language skills. Our trained and caring Montessori teachers will be able to adjust to your toddler's needs as they experience their first contact with other children and learn to participate in a cooperative group.

  • Preschool

A Montessori preschool education develops a creative, caring, confident child who loves to learn.

At GD Goenka La Petite, the Preschool classroom flourishes under the guidance of a Montessori teacher in a "prepared environment." During the formative years (between 3 and 6), children easily learn the skills of reading, writing, and arithmetic.

Activities in the preschool classroom include early language and number work, "practical life" (manners, personal care, etc.), introduction to cultures and geography, art and music activities.

  • Kindergarten

The kindergarten year is the culminating year of our preschool program. Kindergarten students continue working each morning on their individual lesson plans, as well as socializing with, and mentoring younger classmates. As leaders in the classroom, kindergarteners enjoy privileges that come with being the oldest and most experienced students.

In the afternoons, the kindergarten students follow a curriculum designed especially for them. In addition, they enjoy field trips, physical education, and music.

  • Elementary

Our elementary program provides a challenging learning environment designed to stimulate curiosity and support moral, physical, and intellectual development.

This warm and exciting educational environment features a hands-on, experiential approach to learning, and enables the student to move from simple to complex tasks, and from concrete to abstract ideas, whether in Maths, Science, Language or any other area.

The student leaves the Montessori elementary program with the self-concept of a capable learner and contributor, and an optimistic vision of his or her own future.

  • Middle School

The Middle School program continues to offer the student self-paced studies in Language, Math, and Science, while incorporating group studies such as Literature and History.

  • After School

The school day officially ends at 3:00 pm, but students who stay for extended hours are cared for by school-day and after-school staff until 5:45 pm.

The preschool children play outside from 2:30 pm until they are picked up, allowing them plenty of free play time. They are offered a snack during this time. There are also organized games for those who want to join in. If the weather is extreme, the children play inside the classrooms with special "rainy day" activities.

Kindergarten and elementary students also go outside at 2:30 pm for recess with their friends. Students who stay past 4:00 pm can attend Study Hall from 4:00 to 4:45pm.

  • Studio Program

Our Studio Program offers a variety of after-school activities. Students have many options from which to choose, including swimming lessons, drawing, crafts, computer, chess, sewing, etc. All programs are designed to help busy parents.
